Motorcycle Phone Mounts FAQ
Everything riders need to know about keeping a phone securely mounted through everyday on-road engine and road vibration — no drilling, no adhesive.
ProClip's motorcycle mount uses a spring-loaded grip that clamps directly onto the sides of your phone under constant tension, with rubber-padded sides that cushion the phone and add extra grip at the contact points. It's built for easy one-handed insertion and removal, so the same tension that lets you pull your phone out quickly at a stop is what keeps it held firmly while you ride. No mount is completely foolproof, so give the grip a quick squeeze-check before you ride, the same way you'd check your mirrors.

Pre-Ride Check Recommended
The rubber-padded sides on the spring-loaded grip are specifically there to reduce vibration transfer from the bike into your phone, rather than letting a rigid plastic clamp shake against the phone's edges on every mile of pavement. This is designed for normal on-road riding vibration — engine buzz, expansion joints, rough pavement. It is not designed or rated for off-road, dirt, or trail riding; see the next question before you take it onto anything unpaved.

Not Off-Road Rated
No. ProClip's motorcycle handlebar and mirror phone mounts are explicitly not intended for off-road use. The vibration and impact loads on unpaved trails, motocross tracks, and rough off-road terrain go well beyond what the spring-loaded grip and rubber dampeners are designed to absorb. If you ride off-road and need to keep a phone mounted, contact ProClip about options rated for that use rather than using this mount outside its intended purpose.

Manufacturer Alert
ProClip offers two separate mounts, sized for two different attachment points. The handlebar mount clamps onto round handlebar tubing 0.79–1.26 inches in diameter. The mirror mount clamps onto a motorcycle's mirror stem instead, keeping your handlebar completely free of hardware — a common choice on bikes with a crowded bar (switches, grips, a charger, a GPS puck). Measure your bike's handlebar or mirror stem diameter and compare it against these ranges before ordering, since motorcycle hardware sizing varies by make and model.

Measure Before Ordering
The spring-loaded grip fits most smartphones 2.20–3.62 inches wide and up to 0.59 inches thick, which covers most phones with a slim-to-medium case installed. Very bulky or heavily padded rugged cases can push a phone past that 0.59-inch thickness limit, so if you run a thick protective case, check its total thickness with the case on before ordering, or plan to remove a bulky case for rides.

Check Bulky Cases First
Yes. The arm has two pivot points for extended reach and flexible positioning, and the phone grip itself rotates a full 360° for portrait or landscape viewing. The mount is available with three different arm lengths — a short, mid, and long option — so you can choose the reach that puts your phone where you want it relative to your handlebar or mirror without it blocking your view. Check the specific arm length listed on each product listing when choosing between variants.

Be clear-eyed about what the mount does and doesn't do. The spring-loaded grip and rubber-padded sides hold your phone securely and cushion it from vibration, but the mount does not waterproof or weatherproof your phone, and it is not a crash-protection device. If you ride in rain or dusty conditions, pair the mount with a waterproof phone case or sleeve. If you go down, treat the phone and mount like the rest of your gear — inspect both before riding again.

Each mount comes with an Allen wrench to tighten the clamp around your mirror or handlebar, so the only tool you need ships in the box. Position the clamp on your handlebar or mirror stem (within the listed diameter range for that mount), use the included Allen wrench to tighten it securely, then set the arm angle at the two pivot points and insert your phone into the spring-loaded grip with one hand. There's no drilling, no adhesive, and no separate hardware to source yourself.
