    Solid bracket. Awkward location.

The position is ingenious. The bracket fits. The downside is that the vertical clearance is minimal, and the smallest available iPhone cannot go in and out of the mount without first turning the mount 45 degrees or more, so the phone can go in, then twist the phone+mount to vertical.

Hi Jesse, thank you for the great review! As technology has progressed, smartphones are becoming larger and larger in size. Some vehicle mounting bases like this one were created before the most recent larger smartphone designs were even created. You are correct that in general and for this specific mount, that the a-pillar location is a tight fit for larger smartphones. The only recommendation we have if you plan to mount a larger smartphone in the a-pillar area is to slightly rotate your device holder each time you dock the phone so you have enough clearance. Also, make sure you are attaching the device holder the furthest you can to the right side of the mounting base for some additional clearance.

    Almost perfect

I’m using the mount with the iPhone 11 standard mount and it works great to hold it up and out of the way, but still usable for directions. The only issue is that the phone is so big, the mount isn’t far enough away from the A-pillar. So I have to turn the mount sideways to put the phone in and out. Then I can put it vertical. But once the phone is in the grip, it works great.

Doesn’t play well with larger phones

I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max and can only set it in landscape mode. I cannot turn it upright as it hits the dash and A pillar. It’s also pretty far from reach while driving. Lastly it’s pretty far away from any charge ports and a extra long cable will be needed. Otherwise it holds well and good quality

Thanks for the great review, Sam! Since this a-pillar mount was made almost 10 years ago for the 2011-2014 Toyota Sienna, smartphones have gotten larger and larger making it a tighter fit to mount a phone onto the a-pillar location. We recommend slightly tilting your phone to the right so it fits better in this location or to consider getting a different dashboard mount location for your vehicle.
